Milly Clissett

Fine Artist

A current Fine Artist based in Leeds, Milly's work is predominately based on ideas of identity and 'the self' looking in the past more inwardly at her own, but currently interested more in ideas of other people and commercialising these notions of identity through parody. Her work often takes the form of bright, immersive spaces filled with mixed-media 'mini-narratives' that include text, image, objects, video and sound that all combine to create a colourful and overwhelming sensation. An autobiographical narrative was adopted in her body of work- "Welcome to my Bedroom" referencing her ideas and experiences of the world through the use of her bright colour pallet and quite often humour. More recently Clissett's work has taken the form of performance, characterisation and world-building in her endeavour of creating the fantasy business- Mill's Identity Agency- a company that commercialises identities, making it something that can be moulded, bought and sold. This agency is spear-headed by Agency Manager- Mill, a god-like creator who runs the operations and acts as the face of the agency- she is animated, bubbly and completely fake.

Let's Work Together!

I'm Milly, a second year Fine Art student who currently attends Leeds Arts University,

I have held a number of events and completed a handful of commissions which I will show and

describe on this website. If you are then interested in collaboration or commission of any kind, then please feel free to get in contact with me and we can arrange it.

If you are interested in holding any sort of art-based event, such as an exhibition, art fair,  print-market

or another art-related affair, I have relevant experience in not only taking part but organising and would be happy to get involved in any way I was needed, applying my knowledge, experience and passion.

If your interest lies in commissions, I have created a number of these, ranging from portraits and paintings of loved-ones, for personal or professional gains, to leaflet and logo designs for small companies or events. When completing a commission I maintain a constant line of communication, checking in at every stage and taking your comments and wishes in to consideration. In my eyes, a commission is a collaborative activity which requires the customer is left feeling they've received what they paid for.

Testimonials

"The portrait you did of my boyfriend for his birthday was amazing! So happy with the finished painting and the way you communicated with me throughout the whole process, you made him look so handsome in his suit! He was so surprised when he opened it!

-Charlotte Daniels

Received a commissioned portrait of her partner for his birthday.

"Thank you so much for this! I showed my mum pictures of the portrait and she loves it and thought it was very quirky. Very excited!"

"Hey, it's looking fab! I love the new addition of the extra colours."

-Will Davenport â€‹

Received a custom portrait to brand his music business, it was a collaborative effort, as I believe all portraits and commissions should be.

"Such a cute print and very good value for money, she should charge more for them because she is so talented!"

-Charlie Seal

A graphic designer I have collaborated on projects with, and who purchased my prints at my recent event.
